Science Fair Proposal

1. What is your hypothesis?
If a skateboard has medium (50-60 cm in diameter) hard (97-105%) wheels, then it will perform better than if it has other types of wheels.

2. Identify the dependent (produced), independent (manipulated) and control variables in your hypothesis.
My dependent variable is the time made with the wheel after the wheel travels down the ramp.
My independent variable is the wheels width, pattern on grip, and diameter.
My controlled vairable is wheels i use on the runs.

3. What is the connection between your science fair project and your senior project EQ?
The connection between my science fair project and my EQ are that in order to manage a successful skate shop i need to understand which products are best quality to hold in a skate shop for the customers.

4. How will you perform the experiment?  Include the equipment you plan on using.
I will obtain a small platform with a certain degree incline and have a handle that will ride the wheel down the incline and i will have a variety of wheels with different variables like diameter, width, and grip. I will have a timer on the different runs with different wheels and in the end i will use the times to differ all wheels. I will graph the data and then figure out WHY that wheel is better than the rest.

5. Which category will your project be listed under?  (For a full list of categories, go to the iPoly Physics webpage, then to the Science Fair tab.)
My project will be categorized in the Physics list.
